Here's a before and after tale. The first picture I did a couple of years ago, but never liked it much. Then the same picture I trimmed and I like it better.

I've been interested in alleys in my neighborhood and have taken some photos. This is the first painting I've done from them:

And here's the photo:

These first two are my most recent. I took them to my arts support group and they said not to do anything more to either. I'm not sure I concur, but we'll see. The first has no paint in the bottom left corner, although the sidewalks are drawn in. It reminds me of Stan Fellows' style.

This one I have struggled with the bush. Also the stepping stones seem to be on a hill. See the photos below.

Jan's Friday class one day in May, 2014. was about painting flowers. Most of us chose iris:

This is the house next door to me on Reno Street. Working on sunlight and shade.

This is from classwork with Jim Pedersen. The lesson was on the "gesture" - the practice of detail in only one part of the picture. I later added the black lines to imply a glass table with the big candle in front off it.

This is from a sketch I made in Boulder of a house across Dellwood from the parking lot of North Boulder Park. Still working on light and shade.

Thursday I attended a workshop by Jo Myers-Walker and painted this. It's from a photo she took on the ped mall.I don't like it. I need to master figures beginning with smaller ones like I see in Herry Arifin's work.
Don't know if I'll keep this one. Isn't very interesting.Correction: SOLD. Actually my son chose it when I offered him one. His office has a brick wall.

Learning to draw

I'm taking a weekly class in drawing which I'm enjoying a lot. We've been drawing a pair of work boots. The first week I had a fairly good angle. Later I added watercolor. The second week my angle was more difficult. I couldn't get my left brain to let go so I could draw what I was seeing. I couldn't believe the boot in the back could be so short!

SOLD: My daughter was here to select a WC of mine and that the workboots above is the one she took. That surprised me. I thought she'd want a Boulder landscape.
