Jim Pedersen's class Monday

In Jim's class Monday we did exercises with these results:

In the first we did full page colors and with window viewer found these 4 smaller abstracts. The second (the moon) is from lifting out paint to make corrections.

I had a hard time with the foreground in this one. I tried again without much success. On the other hand this is the best I've ever done water. Otherwise I can't decide if I like this one or not. I decided there's nothing to balance the strong diagonal right. So the rocks I added to the foregrounnd are an attempt to do that.

The buckets are from a photo I took at Long's Gardens in Boulder. The Taize Village is from a photo Bob Sessions took while there.

Odd subject matter, but I needed practice with drawing. These pipes are in the stairwell at the senior center.

Here's my latest. It's from a photo I took a few years ago. The garden hose doesn't look quite natural the way it's lying and the faucet looks on rather than off. I may try another. I'm enjoying using the Micron pen over my drawing before I start to paint. Also, for me right now it seems to work better if I lay in my darkest values first.Here's the photo:
